About Us

Mission Statement

The Centre for Omani Dress is firmly committed to the study of the Sultanate of Oman’s national dress identity and in sharing it with the world by way of research, exhibitions, seminars, workshops, publications and other educational schemes.

The Center for Omani Dress (COD) began as the Oman Dress Project (ODP.)  No sooner than the ODP began, the need for greater attention to the preservation of Oman’s dress identity became crystal clear.  Thus, the COD was born in 2005 and under it’s umbrella is the ODP and many other vital projects.

The COD is completely dependent upon volunteers and donations as this is a non-profit research effort.  We have over 50 volunteers in Muscat and throughout Oman and meet on a regular basis.

The Director for the COD is Julia AlZadjali.  Julia has lived in Oman since 1992 and is the founder of the ODP and COD, alike.  It is through her vision and direction that the COD has flourished and grown. And it is through the support of the numerous volunteers that the research continues in a forward motion.
